Glabella Filling

Eyebrow filling is an aesthetic procedure performed to fill or correct deep lines or hollows in the area between the eyebrows. This procedure is used to correct the deepening of the lines between the eyebrows over time, the hollows caused by signs of aging or genetic factors, or to obtain a younger and more vibrant appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Although there are those who think that the vertical lines between our eyebrows give a characteristic appearance, it must also be admitted that they give an angry, harsh expression. Like all lines and wrinkles, this vertical line occurs due to the movements of the muscles underneath. There are 2 cm long muscles on each side that bring our eyebrows closer to the midline. The strength of these and the frequent repetition of frowning movements, combined with genetic reasons, time and structural characteristics of your skin such as dryness, cause the line between the eyebrows to gradually deepen. One of the treatment options to reduce the line between the eyebrows is the filling procedure between the eyebrows.

The depth of the eyebrow line is important here. In dry and deepened expression lines, a crack of varying thickness appears on them. When you open this wrinkle with your hand, you can see it in the mirror. Sometimes this crack will not go away even with filling, but will be reduced. The amount of filler you need may increase depending on the depth and number of wrinkles. Along with fillers to reduce wrinkles, your doctor may also recommend botox to reduce the contraction force of the muscles that cause wrinkles. Sometimes it may be necessary to have botox between the eyebrows alone, sometimes filler between the eyebrows alone, and sometimes both together. Here, you and your doctor can decide which procedure or procedures will be performed.

The problem of frowning is actually a common problem and an important part of the angry expression. Even though there is no facial expression, the appearance of vertical lines or lines between the eyebrows gives a harsh and angry appearance. The lines, wrinkles or furrows that appear even though facial expressions are not made or eyebrows are not frowned will not be corrected with Botox, they will only decrease. You can decide this by examining yourself during the pre-procedural examination or even in front of the mirror. In this case, hyaluronic acid fillers of different hardnesses may need to be applied to that groove at different skin levels, depending on the patient's skin thickness. Usually, with the help of numbing creams, a filling amount of 1 ml is often sufficient. If necessary, additional doses can be administered under your control.
If your doctor recommends applying both together to reduce the wrinkles between the eyebrows, he may also recommend postponing the filler if you apply Botox together or first and are satisfied with its effect. Because after botox application, the muscles that enable the eyebrows to move inward to the midline relax and this frowned eyebrow appearance disappears. You can see this effect within 4-7 days. During your check-up in the 2nd or 3rd week, you may re-evaluate the line here and check the effect of Botox and filler may not be applied. In such cases, filling application is postponed. There is no harm in applying both procedures together. If your wrinkles are very deep and your frown habit is excessive, doing them together will provide a better result and a more protective effect.
The muscles that enable us to frown are quite strong in some of us, and while they have a function that accompanies our emotions such as attention, anger, and worry, they sometimes become the main reason for the angry facial expression by causing a constantly frowning appearance due to the effect of eye disorders. Reducing these lines between the eyebrows with filler or botox alleviates or eliminates this condition.

We only prefer hyaluronic acid fillers.

Fillers between the eyebrows may need to be applied to almost all layers of the skin, so fillers with different properties can be preferred for each patient. It may need to be done intradermally or subcutaneously or even deeper.

Since the fillings in this area are made separately for almost all layers of the skin, the issue of hardness may come to the fore quite frequently in the early stages. Our patients should know that this stiffness between the eyebrows will disappear within 1-2 weeks. Sometimes, they may also be disturbed by appearances such as darkening and bruising due to the tissue reaction that occurs when the needles enter. It is enough for them to know that these situations are temporary and the effect of the filler will last around 1-1.5 years.
